Break a Wheel - Use a BUDDIE
Printing and Production
Project Scope:
This project created a quick-reference guide to help sticker-production employees identify and address cutting-alignment issues before material was wasted.
The guide focused on a common issue in which material skews during cutting because of a damaged hold-down wheel. It outlined the severity levels of wheel damage and provided instructions for applying a temporary “B.U.D.D.I.E.” solution, allowing production to continue until Maintenance could install a replacement part.
Mgmt Involvment:
Management involvement was no longer needed unless the wheel required replacement.
Department:
Printing and Production
Users:
7 employees
Training:
15-minute group training session.
User Adoption:
100% adoption
Outcome:
Employees could independently identify the issue and apply the temporary B.U.D.D.I.E. solution, reducing material waste and eliminating the need for management involvement until a replacement was needed.
